You used to be able to spec prot and gear up in holy gear and actually out-heal holy paladins because of the huge spell damage bonus from Touched by the Light, but the recent change of Touched by the light to Strength instead of Stamina put an end to that.  According to WowWiki, this is the build people used...

Due to the known lack of pvprot guides im kind of starting not a guide; more like a 3vs3 and maybe later a 2vs2 project to open the door to pvp in all 3 speccs and not only succed as holy like we are likly to seeing.
Yesterday we put toghether a spec but since we lack of time...and gear we couldnt try it but by tonight i almost sure that i wold get enought mats to build myself both pvp outfits and combine them with some pve prot gear.

Next i will list a few thing that we are going to test:
1-Try several specs like prot/ret,prot/holy, holy/prot, ret/prot and maybe a weird and no so probable holy/prot/ret but we have to try anyway....(most talents/fillers)
2-Try all specs in 1vs1, 2vs2 and in all sorts of  situations like 3+ vs me, etc
3-Combine the gears, with the specs, maybe not get the strongest gem/enchants, cuz im not that rich but since im a jc i cam make a not so bad gems to fill the stuff.
4-more when i think of them....Tongue

The preeliminar "tests" would be made in bgs and duels since im not well skilled in pvp and i need the honor anyways. This will give us the idea of what we need or dont need and what to change or improve...And after that we can make the descion of wich spec/gear combination its the more accuarete for arenas.

When we feel comfortable with 2 specs/gear combination and we have the honor to buy the fisrt pvp epics. Then we are planning in actually entering the arenas.

Our basic 2vs2 idea is both beeing dps but heal when needed. We will try to chain-CC one of the oposite members and nuke down the other but put me as a bait.

I post this because it would really be helpful to have some feedback or tips. Please dont post if your comment its something like "this will suck"or the like since this rather than help will give me the idea that you are a poor noob and a sheep that only follow the rest, and a big coward that dont want to try new things because your scared of.....so please keep the things nice and support the idea. Maybe you like to heal and ret in pvp but it really would nice to "tank" in pvp or at least try it before giving up.

What makes arena difficult is that the different combo's (roque - priest, hunter - druid, priest - pally ,...) they all have a different strategy to battle.

My advice is: CC
Fight one at a time.
Learn your opponent's abilities and know how to counter them.

Also because you can heal and wear plate, you only real enemy is spells.
Therefore, the more resil and pvp talents, the better.
