Well this is my first post on Tankadin, but i've been a long time reader
So i was checking some of the forums and decided to look up Steve's Armory. I saw that he had the PvP shoulder enchant. So i took some time and and looked up some other End Game Raiding Tanks and saw that they to used the PvP enchant. Why is that? Is it because of the chill of the throne debuff that makes the Stam better than the Dodge? Any feedback would be appreciated, and go easy on me it's my first time!  Wink

For a lot of tanking situations, stamina is more versatile than avoidance since it's works on all fights, especially fights with heavy magic damage. With the [Chill Of The Throne] debuff in Icecrown Citadel, the dodge on the Hodir enchant is effectively decreased.  The side benefit of the PvP enchant is that the resilience helps you reach uncrittable, so you need less defense.

There's a pretty involved post over on the Maintankadin forums where they determine when to swap out certain gems and enchants from avoidance to stamina.

The shoulder enchant swap is pretty low on the list, so it's not something you should be doing as soon as you hit 80 or anything.

On the contrary, with the [Chill Of The Throne] debuff dodge will be worth more, as the diminishing returns from dodge is significantly decreased. If it were that we have less than 20% dodge it won't be worth it since it will be below 0 anyway, but having around 30% dodge we don't end up at 10% as expected but more like 12-13%, at least that is what I experienced when I was in ICC. Also it seems to me that when having low on a stat we need more of that stat, e.g. -20% dodge we need more dodge.

I don't think [Chill Of The Throne] has any effect on diminishing returns.  It subtracts 20 from your total dodge percentage after diminishing returns.

Not so sure about that Krick, when I was there and used my trinket I got a boost of maybe 6% (from 512 rating or what it is), while when I have around 30 I just get about 3-4% from it. Not sure about the numbers but there was a huge difference. easy to check too.

Check out the quote from Ghostcrawler near the end of this page...

Quote
The 20% nerf is applied after diminishing returns.
